Welcome to the new chess season

Welcome new and returning chess players for the 2019 – 2020 school year.

The first club meeting is on October 10 in room 109. The club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Optional tournaments throughout the year, stay tuned to the team calendar for more information.

Upcoming team building event: Paintball party on October 17. More information will be provided by the coach in an upcoming club meeting .

Registration: Online via Community Ed website or a flyer will be provided in club meetings. Coach invites all to sample for a few weeks before registering.

Congratulations to the 2019 team

Congratulations to our Metcalf Masters team at Nationals. The U1000 team won the national championship.! Also, second place in the U750 section was fantastic. We brought home 14 trophies in total including various individual awards.

Last weekend our sixth graders competed in the Minnesota Statewide Elementary Championship and won the team title! This was a first for Metcalf. Congratulations!

Coach Ribnick was inducted into the MN Chess Association Hall of Fame. The team gave encouraging words for coach in this video

  • If you missed the first Silent Auction, you have another chance to come by and support the Metcalf Masters Chess Club this Saturday, March 9 from 8a to 1p during the tournament.   • The 2nd Annual brewery tour at Baldman Brewing is approaching on April 6. Tickets are available at an Early Bird price of just $25 before March 23rd, $30 after March 23rd
