Last weekend was a HUGE success for the Nicollet Chess Program.   

Our 6th grade team – Thomas Pritchard, Spencer Pederson and John Blomer – won the State Sixth Grade Title.  John led the team with a 3rd place finish!

Our 7th grade team – David Santos, Harrison Stage and Rynaldo Mejia – won the State Seventh Grade Title with Rynaldo winning 3^rd place, David 2^nd place and Harrison was the Statewide Champion! 

Our 8th grade team – Owen Krick, Aiden Callenius, Mason Pederson, Jake Schoenbauer, Kenny Moe and Zach Pierce – won the State Eighth Grade Title.   Hardware winners included Golden Knight Winner Aiden, 5th place finisher Owen and 2nd place finisher Jake!

CONGRATULATIONS ALL!

At the Snowball Open Chess Tournament on January 9th, Nicollet had several hardware winners.

In the Elementary Section:
Kerry Crawford – 1st Place
John Blomer – 4th place

In the Junior High Section:
Jake Schoenbauer – 1st place
David Santos – 3rd place

In the rated section:
Owen Krick – 2nd place

Also in our first round in the high school chess league:
Nicollet A defeated Breck High School
Nicollet B defeated Andover

Chess doesn’t quite look the same this year for our club members but a new school, new team name and even a new format for playing didn’t stop them from claiming victory at the Winter Open Gradelevel Tournament last Saturday, December 5th!
